John Howard Cottages is an attractive building on the outskirts of Kemptown in Brighton.
Built in 1922, John Howard Cottages contains 12 flats which house retired NHS workers from the surrounding area.
It is an attracted building and the existing doors, although not compliant fire doors were visually appealing and added to the character of the building.
We worked with our supplier to manufacture bespoke veneered, panelled doorsets with a vision panel and false beading in a style in keeping with the property and sympathetic to the original doorsets.
These doorsets were manufactured under the BM Trada Q-Mark Fire Door Manufacturing Scheme and were installed by Freebird under the BM Trada Q-Mark Fire Door Installation Scheme.
The result is improved safety, security and compliance for the 12 households in John Howard Cottages, whilst keeping the attractive appearance of the bare brick communal areas.
